27 Weeks Pregnant Stomach Pains

calorie restriction with or without exercise. The Fitness vs Fatness

see themselves in the form is not equivalent to being in shape. Appearances can be deceiving in this case (see previous post)

A proper diet alone can lead to weight loss but that does not necessarily equate to a "true health" or better fitness.
A study recently published in
t the official magazine of America n College of Sports Medicine 36 adults considered overweight (not obese) inviting them to participate during a speech six months one of the following three programs: diet alone, diet * exercise or weight-maintenance program (control group). those who participate in the program of diet and weight maintenance has been instructed not to change the regime of physical activity during the period of six months.
Although the diet that diet plus exercise group had lost weight during the course of the study (approximately 10 percent of total body weight) only individuals they were doing physical activity improved their "internal health" in addition to their waist.
The authors comment that:

"We saw marked improvement in cardiovascular fitness, blood pressure, insulin sensitivity and cholesterol levels only in people who have ventured regular physical exercise"

"Weight loss is a nice effect but it is the internal improvement of health is more important in the long term."
The results of this study therefore confirm the usefulness of including physical activity as a standard of care.

* Participants in the exercise group performed aerobic exercise
structured as walking, running or cyclettea - five days a week for about 50 minutes each session.
