The limitation of mobility has profound effects on health and wellbeing and is very common among older adults with cardiovascular and cardiometabolic disorders. Research conducted at Wake Forest University found that the simplest of exercises, the way, combined with weight loss may improve mobility as much as 20% in the elderly, obese and heart patients .
The study, published in the journal Archives of Internal Medicine was conducted for a period for five years on a total of 288 participants. The researchers found that the combination of weight loss and physical activity works best to help ensure the health and function during aging.
